Description Excavation and expansion project for a manufacturer of hammer-forged steel fittings and unions. Our excavation division, Horst Excavating, served as lead subcontractor.
Features The project- to build a new concrete foundation and manufacturing floor to support the installation of large automated forging equipment for two new production lines — was divided into two phases:
Phase One, excavation work to create a utility-supply tunnel, lasted from March 2008 to June 2008.
Phase Two, the primary project involving tight-quarters excavation and extensive concrete work inside Phoenix's existing one-story building.
Substantial site and structural work was required to facilitate excavation in Phase Two of the project.
Project schedule was driven by the owner's deadline to produce sample fittings from the new forging equipment and manufacturing lines.
Percent of labor self-performed was 50%. |
