What Sets Horst Apart?

Hint: It’s our Values

 

Let’s be honest: at first glance, we construction companies tend to look similar. We all have great projects that we are delighted to show off; we will all tell you we have the best and brightest employees; and many of us can boast that we have been in business for a long time. So what sets Horst Construction apart? We have all of these qualities, of course. We take immense pride in our workmanship, and love to talk about what we’ve built. We have incredibly talented and dedicated employees that we are both grateful for and proud of. And our 120+ year history gives us a solid foundation and plenty of experience. But what else?

While there are many factors that make us different, one of the primary aspects that set us apart is that Horst is a values-based organization. We have a collection of core principles that establish the tone for our entire business model. We have developed what we call our value wheel (see above), because we believe that the principals it contains are equally important and rely on one another to make our business strong.

While these ideas are displayed on our office walls and discussed in our interviews, there is much more to it than that. What we deem most imperative lies in how we demonstrate and prove those values to the people with whom we do business.

As with so many things, it often comes down to the details – things such as our approach to communication, the respect we display in our interactions, the way with which we conduct meetings, or in what manner we handle any issues that may arise during the construction process. It prevails in our relationships with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. Our commitment to these key principles shines through the actions and words of our employees.

As our leadership consistently proclaims: “We must build relationships before buildings.” By steadfastly sticking to our values, we provide a uniquely client-centric, focused, and ethically sound approach to construction.
