Rick Lown, RA, NCARB

In his role as Master Planning Advocate, Rick calls upon over three decades of experience in design and construction to partner with Horst’s Master Planning clients to dig in deep and identify needs, goals, and available resources. As a Registered Architect, Rick has the knowledge and expertise to help churches and organizations define the scope of work and overall design in a manner that meets all criteria – without breaking the budget.

From “napkin sketch” through groundbreaking, Rick advocates for our clients every step of the way. He is passionate about working with building committees and team members to understand the vision, necessary elements, intended uses, and what factors will be most important to the end users of a facility. He works intently with our clients to evaluate their programming needs and create schematic diagrams that offer options for consideration. Through partnership with Horst’s Estimating team, Rick will work to develop a reliable budget and accurate scope of work – bringing the project into focus with data and design our clients can use to make informed decisions. Rick’s passion and specialty is working through the Master Planning process with churches and religious organizations, having been involved in the planning, expansion, and/or renovation of over 175 institutions. He enjoys helping churches build unity and vision to expand His Kingdom.
