Horst Construction: Since the Late 1800s
Horst Construction’s history is rooted in the culture of Central Pennsylvania. Joseph Horst, an honorable man and distinguished builder, was asked to build a church. From the start, the name “Horst” was associated with skill and integrity. Horst Construction continued to grow quietly and steadfastly, standing on quality craftsmanship and an honest day’s work. As a 5th generation family business, the tie to our origins and values remain strong.
Our founder – Joseph Horst – is approached to build Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Terre Hill, Pennsylvania. This first project is completed with excellence: services are still held in this building today.
In the middle of the Great Depression, Horst Construction remains strong, standing on a foundation of quality craftsmanship and honored handshake commitments. Second and third-generation Horsts – William and his son Abe, Sr. – join the company.
As the industry evolved, Horst Construction adapted to the times to continue delivering top-notch construction. Abe Horst, Jr. joins the business, adding a fourth generation, followed by his brother Clyde Horst.
Horst Construction offers a broader range of construction services and gains experience in numerous industries. Clyde’s son, Randall, joins the business. Through Clyde’s leadership, Horst becomes a privately held group of companies with insurance, property management services, and senior living management services rounding out the Horst Group family of companies.
Owned by the family’s fifth generation and managed by an experienced construction team, Horst Construction is proud to serve the Eastern U.S. with design-build, preconstruction, master planning, construction management, general contracting, and special services.
