  • Groundbreaking celebrated at First Church of the Brethren

    Groundbreaking for the new First Church of the Brethren - to be designed-built by Horst Construction as part of a $3.3 million contract - was celebrated on July 6. First Church of the Brethren has been in Reading, PA, for more than 110 years. Shown in the photo are, left to right: Senior Pastor Tim Speicher, Nancy Dotter, Earl Redner, Marvin Zimmerman, Church Leadership Chair, and Patti Thomas, Building Committee Chair. The new facility will be built on the same six-acre parcel site as the existing church. The project, which includes a new sanctuary and Fellowship Hall, is scheduled for completion in March, 2009. Mark Yerkes is the Project Manager and Curvin Hoover is the Project Superintendent.

  • Topping Out Party for Village Square Apartments at Garden Spot Village

    The Village Square Apartments at Garden Spot Village reached a milestone on Thursday, May 29th when the "Topping Out" 4'x8' plaque was hoisted into place. We threw a "Topping Out" Party to signify this accomplishment and had residents of Garden Spot Village sign their name on the plaque. Pictured above, Dave Ruby & Brad Bachman place the "Topping Out Plaque" at a high location on the roof of the Village Square Apartments.

  • Building Wind Power
    Working with Gamesa Energy to complete the Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm in Western PA, we prepared the site with 15 miles of access road, installed cabling and constructed massive foundations for forty 200-foot tall wind turbine structures. Energy from a wind turbine can power an average of 1,000 homes per day. Horst Construction is currently serving as general contractor for Gamesa's North Allegheny Wind Farm.
  • Five Star Senior Living
    Serving as construction manager for the exclusive new Brandywine Assisted Living at Fenwick Island, DE, we are building a $13 million, 83,000 square foot, "Five Star" facility to serve the growing senior population in Sussex County. This project will feature luxury amenities throughout the building and on-site nursing care for residents.
