THE LANCASTER COUNTY FOOD HUB

The Lancaster County Food Hub Outreach Center faced a unique challenge: how to modernize and expand a historic facility while continuing to serve the community's most vulnerable populations without interruption. As a busy food pantry and social service agency, the Food Hub needed substantial updates to better serve their growing client base, but couldn't afford to disrupt their critical daily operations. Horst Construction was engaged to manage this complex renovation within the occupied building. Working closely with Food Hub leadership, Horst developed a phased construction approach that maintained essential services throughout the project. The scope included significant demolition and renovations, elevator installation for improved accessibility, new restroom facilities, and the creation of an inviting patio space. Through thoughtful planning and constant communication, we successfully preserved the building's historical character while modernizing the facility—ensuring the community received uninterrupted access to food assistance and social services throughout the entire construction process.
